Is this a NAHA or AIA "approved" program?

I get this question quite a bit.  A simple answer is No, I have not submitted this course to NAHA or AIA.  I respect what these organizations are trying to do.  And I do keep up with the latest information that they provide, but I do not feel the need to have my program listed at this time.  These organizations were created by fellow aromatherapists who also have their programs listed.  They are not government regulated nor third party monitored organizations.  I have weighted the pros and cons of having my course listed, and one of the cons is having to charge more for the course.  These organizations require annual fees for personal memberships and additional fees for school recognition.  If I were to add those costs to the business, I would have to incorporate those costs into the cost for my courses.  I would rather give everyone the opportunity to learn aromatherapy at an affordable cost.

Also, I was certified in other alternative modalities (some before aromatherapy), I network and educate others from these various therapies. So, these Integrative memberships  and networking organizations have been more benefical to my business, than getting recognized by people in the same field.  While I maintain a membership with NAHA and AIA, I choose to channel business funds elsewhere, especially since a certification course can be taught without the approval of an organization.

Are your courses affiliated with a "MLM" company?

No, it is NOT affiliated with any one MLM company.  It is a legitimate aromatherapy course that follows safety guidelines and protocols that other professional courses teach.    I have a MLM background, and I still dabble from time to time with direct sales or MLM companies.  I use their products and recommend the companies that I like and have had good experiences with to my clients.  If there is literature that they have will benefit the class, I do share it.  But, to teach a course, I have to be fair and unbiased.  There are companies that I like that are MLM based, but I also recommend distillers, wholesalers, and retailers to my clients.  The resource list at the end of the course will list so many that you cannot use them all.  Also, I have created a blog and Facebook group dedicated to MLM safety.  And to those who do not want to be certified, I have created a Safety Club course that will give you the confidence to use oils safely and still be apart of whatever MLM company you choose.

What is a "Vintage Aromatherapist"?  I first heard this term coined by Sylla Shephard Hanger to describe aromatherapists that were the founding leaders that made aromatherapy what it is today.  I have yet to ask her what it really means. But I would like to believe it to be those who were apprenticed, mentored, taken under the wing of one more experienced and shown the ropes so to speak. I think that is missing today and replaced by computer screens. We need to keep those who started it in our sights.
